Crash Bandicoot 4 doesn't have in-game purchases after all, Toys for Bob confirms
After a bit of a storm began brewing online, Toys for Bob has stepped in to confirm that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will not feature microtransactions.
The listing for Crash Bandicoot’s latest adventure on the Microsoft Store indicated that it would contain in-game purchases, sending fans into an uproar, questioning why a single-player experience would even need such things.
Now, developer Toys For Bob has stepped in to assure players that this disclaimer simply relates to cosmetic skins and pre-order bonuses, many of which have already been revealed.

“We’re seeing confusion about #MTX in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and want to be [gem emoji] clear. There are NO MICROTRANSACTIONS in the game. As a bonus, the Totally Tubular skins are included in all digital versions of the game,” reads a statement from the studio.
It’s excellent that Toys for Bob has put fan fears to rest, since Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has become infamous since its release after adding a number of aggressive microtransactions, all of which weren’t present at launch, including when we first reviewed the game.
Knowing Activision, players were likely concerned that a similar step would be taken with Crash Bandicoot 4. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case, and beyond charging for new levels and skins, we’d struggle to see how such things would even be implemented.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is set to launch on October 2 for PS4 and Xbox One and will be a direct sequel to the beloved PS1 trilogy. You will take control of both Crash and Coco as they utilise magical masks which can manipulate the environment with special powers to take out enemies and avoid obstacles.
It looks gorgeous, and even sports a striking new visual aesthetic. It seems the massive popularity of its recent remasters have pushed Activision to revive the platforming mascot, and with any luck this new adventure will go down a treat. Now, where is that new Spyro game we’re all waiting for?
