Sony Executive Confirms A7S II Camera Successor Launching In Summer 2020

The last we’ve seen Sony launch a A7S series full-frame mirrorless camera was all the way back in 2015. It appears that we’ll finally see a successor this year, according to a recent DPReview interview with the company’s vice president.

Sony VP Kenji Tanaka told the site that the new A7S model will offer larger pixels, improved autofocus features, and a slew of video related upgrades including 4K recording at 60fps, 10-but 4:2:2 and RAW capture. He noted that the company is aware of numerous owner feedback, and promises that the upcoming camera will provide more photography and video related enhancements.

“Right now we’re focused on the launch of the new camera, and it will be a complete redesign of the whole system, including the image sensor. Everything is new,” added Tanaka. “We hope it will meet and exceed the expectations and requests of our customers. I’m very confident that our new model will meet their demands.”

The vice president said that the new Sony A7S camera will launch sometime in summer this year. Its exact date had not been determined for now, but an official announcement is expected to be made sometime soon.
