Microsoft Surface Duo May Launch Before Samsung Galaxy Fold 2

Back in April, reports indicated that Microsoft decided to delay the launch of the Surface Neo. The Microsoft Surface Duo, on the other hand, was said to be on schedule at the time. New reports suggest that it could be brought forward instead.

Zac Bowden tweeted that Microsoft may be looking to launch the Surface Duo before Samsung does the Galaxy Fold 2. This means that the launch event could happen before the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for 5 August. Bowden also says that it should start shipping in less than two months. But it’s unclear whether he means two months from now or after the release of the phone.

If this is true, then we won’t have that much longer to wait to confirm the leaked specs from last month. We’ve previously heard that the Microsoft Surface Duo will come with 6GB of RAM, storage options between 64GB and 256GB, and a 3460mAh battery. The two screens measure in at 5.6 inches, which combine into an 8.3-inch screen when unfolded. It will also only have a single 11MP camera that will serve as both the rear and front-facing camera.

Though when the device was first unveiled, reports indicated that the Microsoft Surface Duo  will run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. This may be a point of contention for the device, in the year of the Snapdragon 865.
