Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Launching on 25 June; Comes with Notched Display

After launching the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, it appears the Chinese company is gearing up to launch yet another budget-focused smartphone next week. As its name suggests, the Redmi 6 Pro will likely be the highest-end device in the series – complete with a notched display.

If you don’t quite like the notched display, worry not – Xiaomi confirmed in a recent teaser that the Redmi 6 Pro’s notch can be easily “removed” with a software trick. In fact, it’s similar to Huawei’s implementation with the Huawei P20 Pro by simply darkening the area around the notch.

Aside from that, other rumoured specifications of the Redmi 6 Pro include a 19:9 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage, a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera system, a 5MP front-facing shooter, as well as a generous 4,000mAh battery.

Looking at leaked images of the phone, the Redmi 6 Pro does appear to be a more premium offering. It looks to be sporting a metal chassis, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is expected to be unveiled next week on 25 June. Interestingly, Xiaomi also confirmed that it will be introducing a new tablet at the launch event, and it will even come with an AI-powered face recognition technology.
