The Steam Summer Sale Has Begun; Comes With A Mini-Game This Year

Steam’s annual Summer Sale has begun. This year, besides giving heavy discounts for specific game titles, Steam is also including a special event in the form of a browser game called Saliens.

Saliens might just seem like a random mini-game, but conquering any of the five planets will give you the chance to win one of game titles offered. The basic rules of thumb is that the longer you spend on a planet, the higher your chances are at conquering it and winning the games that come with it.

The premise of the game is simple; you are a Salien, and your task is to defend your base from your enemy, the Duldrumz. The Duldrumz are out to steal your games and “hide them on distant alien worlds”, and it is up to you to hold them off in battle across five different planets. These planets are Behind The Screen, Mind-Melters, Fine Art, Surreal Wanderlust, and Dark Humor.

We should point out that the games offered as rewards for liberating the planets are set. However, it appears that which game players win is decided through a random process. Also, if a player already owns all the games that are listed for that planet, then that player will not be given an additional copy of the game.

Again, if you don’t want to try your hand at winning a free game, you can still purchase some of the more sought after titles at discounted prices. To that end, we’ve provided a short list of titles that we believe should be added to your list (if you don’t already own them).

  • Borderlands 2 GOTY Edition – 78% off
  • Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag – 60% off
  • Hollow Knight  – 34% off
  • Fallout 4 GOTY Edition – 50% off
  • Doom – 50% off
  • Nino Kuni II Revenant Kingdom – 40% off

The Steam Summer Sale starts begins today and will conclude on 5 July 2018 (6 July 2018 for us).
