Ubisoft Officially Announces Launch Dates For Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion

Earlier today, Ubisoft hosted Forward, its livestream event encompassing the announcements of several upcoming game titles. Amidst the sea of new and familiar titles though, the Lyon-based video game studio finally gave the world the official launch date for two of its major titles, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion.

As confirmed by an earlier leak on Instagram, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will be available to the masses from 17 November onwards. As per its official title, Valhalla takes place during the Viking expansion in the north of the British Isles. Players are placed in the shoes of Eivor, a Viking raider who – like the main protagonists of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – can be either male or female. The new title will reintroduce settlements, an in-game concept that was first introduced in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, as well as introduce new gameplay elements like Conquest Battles, Raids, and Assaults.

Moving on, Ubisoft’s second biggest launch title, Watch Dogs Legion will also be launching this year. To be precise, the studio announced that its futuristic, dystopian third-person adventure game will be available on 29 October, approximately two weeks before the launch of Valhalla.

To recap, Watch Dogs Legions is set in a 1984-esque style UK, and more specifically, in the city of London. In the game’s version of London, the city is effectively split in two: on one side, you have Albion, a private security company that has effectively taken total control of London with its or armed security. On the other hand is London’s dark, seedy, underbelly, ruled by a gangster who has monopolised the black market and is knee deep in all sort of illicit activities.

Players in Legion are thus given not one, but two daunting task: take down the brutal and oppressive regime that is Albion, and cripple the underworld’s activities, physical and financial alike.

As an extra added bonus, Ubisoft also released the official reveal trailer for Far Cry 6. Not much is known about the title, save for the fact that the game will be taking place what could be a fictional Latin American city that is clearly inspired by Cuban architecture. Second, we also know that the main villain is portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito, who is played Moff Gideon in Star Wars’ The Mandalorian, and was the voice of Father in Destiny.

Far Cry 6 is to launch on 18 February 2021.
