Watch Dogs 2 On PC Now Free For All Uplay Users; Here’s How To Claim It

Last week, we reported that Ubisoft is giving away Watch Dogs 2 entirely for free, provided that you logged into your Uplay account when tuning into their Forward online event. Due to unforeseen circumstances occurring on their side during the stream earlier, the publisher had decided to give away the game to every Uplay user free of charge. Even if you’ve missed the event entirely.

It turns out that amassing a Legion (pun intended) of gamers who are hungry to claim a free video game during Ubisoft Forward took a huge toll on the publisher’s servers. This prevented a majority of Uplay users from logging in to their accounts, and the issue persisted throughout the online event. According to the Ubisoft Support account on Twitter, the problem was finally resolved two hours after the live event began earlier this morning.

As mentioned earlier, the video game publisher announced soon after that it will still honour its promise to distribute Watch Dogs 2 for free and had further sweetened the deal by making it available to all Uplay registered users. However, it won’t be as simple as just logging into your account and claiming the game.

According to a recent tweet by Ubisoft at 9am, all Uplay users are required to register their accounts via a special redemption page in order to redeem Watch Dogs 2 and other rewards. But don’t celebrate just yet, as the game won’t appear in your account’s library immediately after registering. Based on the confirmation page after registering your account, Ubisoft mentioned that users will receive their free copy of the game “soon”.

Hopefully the publisher would notify users when the game has been added to their library.
