Spotify Adds Video Podcast Feature To Streaming Platform

Spotify recently added its first version of its video podcast feature to its streaming service, enabling fans the world over to either watch or listen to their favourite podcasters. The feature is available to both free and Premium users, with the list of video podcasts to expand over time.

On that last point, the current list of video podcasts are limited, but users can still tune into podcasts such as Book of Basketball 2.0, Fantasy Footballers, The Misfits Podcast, H3 Podcast, The Morning Toast, Higher Learning with Van Lathan & Rachel Lindsay, and The Rooster Teeth Podcast. All you need to do is to hit the play button, either on the desktop or mobile app.

Spotify says that the creator-made videos should automatically start and sync with your audio feed the moment you press play. Also, just as you would with a song or a typical podcast on the streaming service, the video podcast’s audio will still continue playing in the background. Even after you’ve locked your device.

Rooster Teeth Podcast is one of several video podcasts that are currently available on Spotify.

It’s plain to see that Spotify has long pondered on adding video podcasts to its platform. Prior to adding this feature, the streaming service signed off an exclusive licensing deal with US comedian and podcaster, Joe Rogan, who initially hosted his video podcast on YouTube. As part of the deal, Rogan would have to bring all his video shows over to Spotify.
