Rocket League To Leave Steam As It Goes Free-To-Play

Though a little late, Psyonix will finally be bringing Rocket League to the Epic Games Store. At the same time, the developers will be making the game free-to-play. But it looks like this comes with a major caveat. And that is that it will be delisted from Steam.

Psyonix says this will happen in summer 2020, which we’re already in. Vague time window aside, the devs also say that when the move to the EGS happens, Rocket League will also get refined menus, and revamped major features like Tournaments and Challenges.

Another major addition is that the game will come with both cross-platform progression as well as cross-platform play. This includes between Steam and EGS. This means your items, Rocket Pass progress and rank are preserved when Rocket League makes the platform jump.

So what happens to the version on Steam? Psyonix says those who bought Rocket League there will still be able to play, and the game will still continue to get updates. But those who don’t already own it will not be able to buy it anymore once it moves to the EGS. The question now is, will we see another round of review bombing as a result?

If you must have it on Steam and don’t mind paying for it, the game is currently priced at RM38.
