Thermal Scanners Now Installed At KLIA Terminal 1 And 2 Departure Halls
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) have installed thermal scanners at departure halls in both Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 1 and 2 terminals. This is to further ensure the safety of all passengers as well as the airport community from the COVID-19 outbreak.
Passenger screenings are effective from 23 March 2020 until further notice. All departing passengers, staff and crew are required to undergo body temperature screening through these thermal scanners before entering check-in areas. MAHB states that only individuals with a body temperature below 37.5 degrees Celsius are allowed to proceed beyond the screening area.

The airport operator also mentioned that no senders and greeters are allowed into the check-in areas. However, children or individuals that require special assistance are granted to have their guardian or minders accompanying them.
MAHB adds that passengers and crew who’ve been denied entry post-scanning are required to inform their respective airline and immediately report to a clinic or hospital for health inspection. The operator also urges passengers, staff and visitors to remain vigilant about their health conditions and staying safe at all times.
KLIA terminals are classified under the MCO as essential services and will remain in operation during the period. However, travel restrictions have been applied by the government with exceptions to diplomats, returning citizens, and visitors who wish to return to their respective countries.
