Government Is Deploying Army To Help Implement Movement Control Order

In a media briefing today, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri has announced that the government will be deploying army to help implement Movement Control Order (MCO). However, this DOES NOT mean that the government is implementing curfew or total lockdown of the country.

The minister has pointed out that the deployment of army was done in order to assist public safety personnel such as police and RELA officers. Ismail also brushed off the clips that have gone viral online which claimed the government has mobilize army forces to take over the administration of the country.

He also insisted that at this moment, the enforcement of MCO is still being done through soft approach such as direct on-ground advice and stern actions such as arrest will be the last option.

With that, please do you part in combating the COVID-19 pandemic by staying home and staying safe. All these minor disruptions to your lifestyle shall pass soon enough.
