Bloodshot: Valiant Comic Book Movie Universe is in the Works
We already have two active comic book movie universes, namely the MCU and the DCEU. But it looks like we could be getting one more, well according to Vin Diesel anyway. While on a press tour to promote the upcoming movie, Bloodshot (which is adapted from Valiant Comics), Vin Diesel talked about how a Valiant Cinematic Universe is already in the works. Per ComicBook.com:
I think what this movie [Bloodshot] does is that it opens the door for all of them. I think you’re going to see all of them. I think if you’re a fan of Valiant Comics, then you are going to be delighted to hear — and I think they’re going to wait until the movie comes out — but they’re going to start putting out into the press all of the Valiant comic books that are going into the cinematic universe. It’s going to be very exciting.
I have mixed feelings about this. While I would love to see the likes of X-O Manowar, Ninjak and Livewire kick ass on the big screen, the idea of building a cinematic universe before establishing a proper standalone film is a cause for concern. After all, Universal counted their chicks before they hatched with the planned “Dark Universe,” which completely disintegrated after the massive failure of Tom Cruise’s The Mummy. The early stages of the DCEU struggled as well as Warner Bros were too focused on establishing a UNIVERSE that they forgot to make good films.
Official synopsis of Bloodshot:
Based on the bestselling comic book, Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force –stronger than ever and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not – but he’s on a mission to find out.
