Nintendo Identifies Pokemon Sword And Shield Leaker

Back in November last year, the Pokemon Company said it’s looking to sue the ones responsible for the Pokemon Sword and Shield leaks. It looks like the leaker has been identified as a reviewer who obtained early copies of the games.

According to a statement to Eurogamer, the leaker was a reviewer with Portuguese site FNintendo. The statement says that leaks were a breach of the confidentiality agreement between the site and Nintendo. And as a result, Nintendo has announced that it will no longer be working with the outlet. Though, the statement makes no mention of any legal action by Nintendo against FNintendo.

Eurogamer also reports that FNintendo has posted its own apology, and implies that it has fired the reviewer in question.

Pokemon Sword And Shield Expansion Pass

Nintendo’s actions now make sense. Drastic action against leakers are not exactly common, but it’s the other way around for reviewers who get early copies. That said, it’s unusual that a company calls out the offender in this manner.

At any rate, this may serve as an adequate warning to those who intend to leak info on the upcoming expansions for Pokemon Sword and Shield. This eighth generation of the games are so far the most successful in the series after all. Beyond officially announced details, further leaks may be seen as jeopardising potential income for The Pokemon Company, after all.
