Intel And Vivo Announce Their Withdrawal From MWC 2020

After a slew of brands announcing that they won’t be at the MWC 2020, Intel and Vivo have added their names to the list of absentees. And you’ll be right if you thought that the reason behind this is the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The first has issued a statement to VentureBeat regarding this. Despite this, VentureBeat reports that Intel is still expected to make product announcements during MWC 2020. It will just be doing so without any ground staff on the event floor.

As for Vivo, the company sent a statement to TechRadar saying that it will “withdraw from our debut at MWC 2020 and other related events later this month in Barcelona”. It will also not be debuting the Vivo Apex 2020 concept phone. Instead, the company will introduce it soon, with no exact time frame as to when that will be.

This is quite a shame, as the Vivo Apex 2020 looks to be quite an impressive phone. Leaker Ben Geskin shared on Twitter his own render of the phone, as well as a few interesting details about the phone. This includes a 48MP “Gimbal Camera” with 5 – 7.5X optical zoom.

No surprise as far as Intel and Vivo’s decision to withdraw is concerned. LG, ZTE, Nvidia, and Sony have already announced their decision to withdraw before them. After all, the novel coronavirus has been declared a global health emergency.
