The Conjuring 3 Title and Synopsis Revealed

I don’t think New Line/Warner Bros could’ve predicted the phenomenon The Conjuring would go on to become when they released the film back in July 2013. In many ways, James Wan’s film revitalised the mainstream supernatural horror genre and made it popular again, for better or worse. Six years in, we’ve not only gotten two Conjuring films but an entire universe built around them, which includes three Annabelle movies, The Nun and The Curse of La Llorona, all of which have garnered varying degrees of success at the global box office.

2020 will see the release of the ninth film in the franchise and the third instalment in the core The Conjuring series, titled The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. At first glance, the subtitle feels unnecessarily lengthy and over the top, but there is a point to it. The film will follow the very real case of a the first murder suspect in US history to claim ‘demonic possession’ as his defence in court.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

The film is directed by Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona) from a script by David Leslie Johnson. This is the first core Conjuring film that doesn’t have James Wan at the helm, nor is it written by Wan’s usual collaborators, Chad and Carey Hayes. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as Ed and Loraine Warren.

Check out the official synopsis of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It –

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defence.
