You Can Now Use Touch N’ Go eWallet To Pay For Parking; Works In Five Districts For Now

The Touch N’ Go eWallet can be used to pay for a number of things, but parking was not one of them. That changes today, and you can use it to pay for street parking under five jurisdictions. They are Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Putrajaya, Kota Bharu and Kuala Langat.

When using the Parking feature on the app, you’ll also be able to get a glance of the parking rates in each area. And when you’re there, the feature will eliminate the need to look for a parking machine. That’s also time saved by not having to return to your car to place the receipt on your dashboard to prove that you’ve paid.

Toucn N’ Go Digital is working with different municipalities to enable this feature in more areas. In the meantime, to promote the use of this feature, the company is offering up to five cashbacks per user. Use the Touch N’ Go eWallet to pay for parking and you’ll get up to a cumulative maximum of RM3 back in your eWallet. This promotion lasts until the end of the month.

While the convenience factor is there, there’s a question of proving that you’ve paid for your street parking spot. Using the app does mean not having to go to a machine, but it also means you don’t get the receipt as proof that you’ve paid. It remains to be seen if there’s a system in place for city council officials to tell that you’ve paid without a physical receipt on your dashboard.
