How To Manage Your Reputation On Facebook

Social media can be of huge use; it can benefit us as well as harm us. It’s very important to keep a keen eye on the content you put forward for the public to see. Sometimes a benign picture of a hamburger can cause outrage in the general public, there will be those who will coach you to not take in calories, against those who will ask you to eat whatever you want because you own your life, a little of those can also jump in who will favor the vegetarian life style but those who don’t will come to bash them, hence a little picture of harmless hamburger you ate last night can create huge fuss about something irrelevant to most of them but the whole drama can be avoided if you do your bit for reputation management and take care of the following points:

Don’t be a fake:

Do not pretend to be someone you are not, it harms the reputation the most. On Facebook and even in the real life what is genuine is respected the most, for example if you are not a Harvard graduate do not say so, Downtown High School degree is equally good if you have earned it right.

Don’t be a part of unnecessary trolls:

Facebook is fun, but jumping into every pond of discussion or argument is not essential. Some threads are started to bring in heated crowds to certain posts. This practice doesn’t earn you any respect; best way is to avoid an unnecessary argument unless you really believe that your opinion in the discussion matters and it will make a difference. If a celebrity has bought a house on the beach to live with his third wife he has every right, don’t judge, don’t be a part of the troll, but yes, if the next candidate for the presidency has launched a poor healthcare program, do troll, there your voice matters.

Hey, cool it down:

And if you are an active user, there comes a point when you can’t stay away from a discussion and may have one or several users disagreeing with you, You’re allowed to curse the opponent under the breath, may be punch the pillow a bit but you’re not allowed to post hateful content online, that is cheap and will seriously harm your reputation amongst your friend circle.

Ask yourself, why you made a Facebook account:

Is it to connect with old friends, is it because you want to share your life with others, is it solely for work etc., ask yourself why are you here and what do you want to do while you sit online. Beating about the bush is fine but don’t lose your focus.

Spread affection:

It doesn’t hurt to show some concern to the people who are a part of your life through Facebook, show them some affection, and appreciate. Inquire about your friend’s day, laugh on their jokes even if they’re bad, these are the people who have become a part of your life and you have become a part of theirs.

Managing Reviews:

There will be some people who will like you and also there will be people who might not. Some become enemies even without knowing the other person in reality. People might be biased, racist or anything we can’t expect people to be. What we see from their face might not to be the person we might think. They might be pretenders. So, we must be careful about what we write or what we talk about on Facebook and that will save us our reputation. To know more about it click here
