VAIO To Make A Return During COMPUTEX 2018
VAIO, the notebook brand that was once a part of Sony, is making a comeback. The company recently had an invite sent out via its Taiwanese partner, Nexstgo, stating that it will be holding a “VAIO is Back” event just in time for COMPUTEX 2018.
If the name Nexstgo sounds familiar, it is because the brand had launched its lifestyle-centric Avita notebooks in Malaysia back in February 2018. One of the key selling points of the Avita notebook was its price. A bare bones unit with the basic hardware would only set you back RM1,799.
Getting back on point, the invite specifically indicates that VAIO will be holding its return ceremony on 4 June 2018 in Taiwan. It’s also very likely that VAIO will have some new products to announce then, before ultimately putting them on its showfloor during the COMPUTEX 2018 period.
VAIO was first created by Sony back in 1996, but was sold to a private firm in 2014 as part of a restructuring effort to focus on its mobile department. VAIO still maintains a local market presence in Japan, but is also internationally active in countries such as Brazil and the US.
VAIO had dabbled in the mobile arena with the VAIO Phone and VAIO Phone Biz, but as of today, the only product that it seems to be actively selling its VAIO S series.
