Tesla shutting down Model 3 production line for six days as of May 26th
U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla will be shutting down Model 3 production again, in order to work on assembly line fixes.
According to a Reuters report citing sources “inside the company,” Tesla is shutting down its Model 3 assembly line for six days, in order to perform upgrades that will help Tesla reach its production goals.
Two sources who spoke with Reuters said that Model 3 production will cease as of May 26th, 2018 and resume on May 31st, 2018.
Tesla has shut down its production line twice before. Even with all these stoppages, we still haven’t seen a meaningful rise in Model 3 production.
Elon Musk has previously said that Model 3 production stoppages are designed to allow the company to meet its goal of producing 6,000 Model 3s each week by June 2018.
In the last few weeks, Tesla’s Model 3 production has ranged between 2,000 and 3,000 cars per week.
The 3,000 number is speculative based on an email reported on by Electrek.
