Qualcomm Introduces The Snapdragon 710 SoC

Qualcomm has announced its latest mobile processor called the Snapdragon 710. According to the company, the new SoC will enable mid-range smartphones to be endowed with a handful of highly rated premium features. These include artificial intelligence and augmented reality capabilities. For those who may not be aware, the Snapdragon 710 chip is the first SoC to be introduced under Qualcomm’s 700-series of mobile processors.

When it comes to specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 is based off of the 10nm process technology. It features a multi-core AI engine, which is claimed to be two times more powerful than the older Snapdragon 660 SoC. Besides that the Snapdragon 710 also comes with 4K HDR playback support – a once exclusive feature to the company’s 800-series processors.

The Snapdragon 710 chip is also equipped with a Spectra 250 image signal processor, which is capable of features such as multi-frame noise reduction and other AI-related camera functions. Battery consumption is also said to have been improved by at least 40% when gaming and playing 4K HDR video playback, and 20% reduction in power consumption when streaming videos (as compared to a Snapdragon 660). Overall performance improvement is rated at 25%.

Other notable features of this new SoC include: Bluetooth 5, Qualcomm Broadcast Audio and Stereo Plus. Regardless, consumers can expect future mid-range smartphones to be come with some “premium” features and be significantly more powerful.
