Acer Introduces Predator Orion 5000 and 3000 Gaming Desktops

Acer is expanding its Predator Orion line of gaming desktops with a pair of new designs. The Predator Orion 5000 and 3000 are somewhat less powerful than the existing Orion 9000, but not really by much.

The Predator Orion 5000 is equipped with an 8th generation Intel Core i7+ 8700K processor. As the processor name implies, this means that it’s fitted with 32GB Intel Optane memory for faster boot times. It can also be shipped with up to dual SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards for maximum power.

Acer may have glossed over a few details about the specifications during its presentation, but it is safe to assume that the Orion 5000 will have top of the line hardware when it makes its debut on the market.

Similarly, the Orion 3000 is a more “affordable” version of the Predator gaming desktop. It fits up to an Intel Core i7+ processor, up to 64GB RAM, and has the option for 32GB Intel Optane memory. The press release makes it sound like there is an option for SLI GTX 1080s as well, but we cannot say for sure right now.

The chassis of the new Orion desktops follow the same style as the Orion 9000; sporting transparent side panels and internal lighting to highlight the hardware. The frame also forms a Faraday cage that Acer says will help isolate the electronics from ambient electromagnetic interference.

Acer plans to get the Orion 5000 on the US market by July, with prices starting at $1499 (RM6000). The Orion 3000 is set to appear in the same market by October, with prices starting from $999 (RM4000).
