Sony A7S III Online Launch Slated For 28 July 2020

The new Sony A7S III full-frame mirrorless camera will see an online virtual launch on 28 July 2020 at 10pm local time, according to an official announcement by the company. The camera is the latest to be introduced from the A7S series, with the previous model launched all the way back in 2015.

As previously reported, the development of this new camera was confirmed by Sony VP Kenji Tanaka in an interview with DPReview earlier this month. He mentioned that the A7S III will offer larger pixels, improved autofocus features, and include 4K recording at 60fps.

The camera’s design and other specifications have yet to be revealed. However, Sony Alpha Rumors reported that leaks of the device suggests that it will feature a redesigned 12MP sensor with fast readout capability, a base ISO of 160 for S-LOG3, 15 stops of dynamic range, a vari-angle LCD screen, and support for UHS-II SD cards. The site added that the A7S III may also have the ability to record videos with no time limits.

We’ll eventually find out more about the new Sony A7S when it launches on Tuesday next week. Especially regarding its availability and pricing.
