New Leica M10-R With 40MP Sensor Unveiled; Priced At RM37400

Leica has announced the latest entry to its M10 rangefinder camera series with the new M10-R. While this new variant shares a similar design and user experience with the other models, what sets it apart is its newly developed sensor that offers a resolution of over 40MP. This is a significant jump over the 24MP CMOS sensor from the original M10 and M10-P.

The new sensor is paired with a bayer filter for colour photography that boasts an improved noise reduction capability, as well as a wider dynamic range. The Leica M10-R has an ISO range of 100 to 50,000, which Leica claims to offer a low-light performance and overall dynamic range that are on par with the M10 Monochrom model. As with the other models in this series, the new camera also features a quiet shutter.

Being a rangefinder camera, the M10-R lacks modern quality-of-life conveniences such as autofocus and auto-exposure features. It also does not feature any video recording functionality, much like the other models. However, the camera does have a rear touchscreen LCD and built-in WiFi that allows it to connect to the Leica FOTOS smartphone app. Lastly, it is compatible with Leica’s range of M-Lenses.

The new Leica M10-R will arrive in Malaysia on 20 July 2020 and is priced at RM37,400. It is available in two colour options: black and silver. Pre-orders for the camera is available now via the Leica Malaysia official website.
