ASUS Colloborates With Bandai To Launch Gundam-Themed RT-AX Series Wi-Fi 6 Routers

ASUS seems to have entered into a partnership with Japanese toymaker, Bandai, in order to launch some new products. The products in question? Two Gundam-theme Wi-Fi 6 routers.

The Wi-Fi 6 routers in question are the RT-AX82U and RT-AX86U. To be even more precise, the RT-AX82U sports the colours and accents of the RX-78-2 Gundam, while RT-AX86U flies the colours of the Zeon-produced and custom MS-06S Zaku II mobile suit. Both of which, as per the sentiments of our resident Gundam experts, were first released back in 1979.

Beyond the custom themes though, the specifications of both the RT-AX82U and RT-AX86U remain unchanged. As mentioned in the title, both routers support the new Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) ultra-fast wireless standard, while the RT-AX82U comes with a LAN capable of supporting up to 2.5Gbps. Oh, and the RT-AX86U is fitted with RGB LEDs that are customisable via ASUS’ Aura Sync, although that’s more of an aesthetic feature than anything else.

No local pricing or availability has been provided by ASUS Malaysia, but according to sources, the RT-AX82U and RT-AX86U will both launch in China first at an SRP of 1299 Yuan (~RM791) and 1999 Yuan (~RM1218), respectively.
