PS5 Third-Party Games Is Extensive: Pragmata, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Deathloop

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) also showed off an extensive list of third party games for the PlayStation 5. Many of them are of the indie variety too, which look plenty impressive in their own right. Adding this list to the already substantial list of first party titles, it looks like the PS5 will not have any issue with game shortage.

But with that, let’s take a look at some of the more impressive ones of them all.

One of them is Pragmata, a Capcom title that’s scheduled to be released in 2022. It’s the game that’s the furthest from release, and is actually still in development. But if there’s any trailer that makes you excited for what the complete product could be, this is it.

And then there’s GhostWire: Tokyo. While its first trailer back in E3 last year barely showed anything, we get a glimpse at what it really plays like now. To put it simply, it’s exorcism in Tokyo. And it’s interesting to see a game as fast-paced as this being played in the first person.

Next is Deathloop. Developed by Arkane Lyon, this title features gameplay that’s reminiscent of the devs’ other game series, Dishonored. The premise is also an interesting one – you play as Colt, and you have until midnight to eliminate eight people. Fail, and you’ll have to start the day all over again. But here’s a catch. Another character, Julianna, is here to stop you, and she can either be controlled by an AI, or another human player.

One of the indie titles to share the PS5 stage was Stray. It’s certainly one of the more unique games of the lot. Instead of playing as a humanoid as you always do, this game has you play as a cat. The game is still being in development and will only be released in 2021. But the interesting premise makes it one to pay attention to.

For something with a little more narrative emphasis, there;s Goodbye Volcano High. Developed by Montreal-based KO_OP, this game has one of the most interesting backdrops – anthropomorphic dinosaur high school kids. And with it comes the obligatory high school drama about teenagers wanting to make a mark in the world. Or finding their purpose in life. But there’s a twist, as the devs say that their rime is about to run out for real.

These are just a few of the third party games that will be making their way to the PS5. There are plenty more, and here’s the complete list as announced by SIE:

  • Grand Theft Auto V by Rockstar Games
  • GhostWire: Tokyo by Tango Gameworks / Bethesda Softworks
  • Godfall by Counterplay Games
  • Project Athia by Luminous Productions / Square Enix

Sony PlayStation 5

As mentioned earlier, adding both this and the list of first party games together, and there’ll be no shortage of games for the PS5. Now, all we need to do is to actually wait for the console to launch, and for its price to be announced.
