Gearbox Software Postpones Launch Of Third Borderlands 3 DLC In Support Of Black Lives Matter Movement
Gearbox Software, the developer and studio behind Borderlands franchise, announced that it will be taking a virtual knee in solidarity with the “Black Lives Matter” movement. And by that, we mean that the developer has postponed the availability of new content for Borderlands 3.
Specifically, the said content includes a new Guardian Takedown that, in itself, includes a new raid-like activity, plus a balancing patch that would’ve readjusted the health of enemies faced by players in higher levels of the game’s Mayhem 2.0 mode. Including nerfing the health of enemies and buffing specific anointments on weapons.
For that matter, it should be noted that the delay won’t be affecting the launch of the game’s third DLC, Bounty of Blood, which will be releasing on 25 June.

The Black Lives Matter movement saw a resurgence in the US recently, after George Floyd died due to asphyxiation while in handcuffs and being restrained by a police officer in the state of Minnesota. Floyd’s death sparked a wave of protest and some looting throughout the US. Concurrently, protesters also called for the officers involved in Floyd’s arrest to be brought to justice.
Gearbox Software isn’t the only game developer and studio to postpone its own launch; at the start of the week, Sony announced that it was delaying its PlayStation 5 livestream event in support of the movement as well, although it didn’t specify how long exactly it intended to postpone the event. Even CD Projekt Red (CDPR) pushed back its Night City Wire event to 25 June, stating that it was doing so in support of the movement as well.
For Borderlands 3 fans, there is a silver lining to the postponement too: By delaying the launch of the new content, the current and ongoing Revenge of the Cartel has received an extension, meaning that you will still have a chance to begin farming all those timed-exclusive loot that you may not have gotten just yet.
