Broadcom Hints At Possible Delay Of Apple iPhone 12 Launch

The unveiling of iPhones usually take place between September and October of every year. It’s possible that Apple will be revealing this year’s iPhone 12 on the latter side of the range. This is because Broadcom, a major supplier to Apple, has suggested that one if its major customers will be belaying the launch of its phone.

Reuters reports that in an earnings call, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said that the company usually sees a rise in revenue from one of its “large North American mobile phone customer”. That being said, Tan also says not to expect this increase until the company’s fourth fiscal quarter. Incidentally, the company’s fiscal year ends between October and November.

To be fair, Tan never mentioned Apple by name. That being said, the former got around 20% of its revenue from Apple in its most recent fiscal year. It also signed two deals to supply Apple with wireless components. This also ties in with Apple’s delaying the mass production of iPhone 12. This process will said to begin in July, at least for one of the four possible variants.

That’s one more reason to believe that the iPhone 12 unveiling has been pushed by at least a month. Considering everything that’s currently going on, it’s not that long an extension of the wait time.
