Sony PS5 “On Track for Launch This Holiday Season” Despite COVID-19: Says Sony

It is seen that Sony has been quiet right now regarding the PS5 whereas Microsoft has revealed literally everything regarding the Series X gaming consoles coming later this year. Right now, Sony has only revealed the design of PS5’s controller and the actual design of the PS5 console is not known right now. There was also a report earlier this year that Sony might delay the launch of PS5 which will take place later this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

At that time, we had reports that the launch of PS5 might take place in December 2020 or even January of next year. That would mean that Sony might not be able to take full advantage of the holiday season later this year. However, we now have a new confirmation which is a promise from Sony that the PS5 is not going to be delayed even keeping in mind the Coronavirus situation. The company has now confirmed in a statement that PS5 remains “on track” for launch later this year in the holiday season.

Sony even adds that there is “no major issues in game software development” either. This means that neither the PS5 console nor the games coming with the console will be delayed as per Sony. Having said that, Sony does mention that factors “such as employees working from home and restrictions on international travel have presented some challenges in regards to the part of the testing process and the qualification of production lines”.

But that is not going to be a problem in terms of launch of the console and game development as per Sony. In addition to this report from Sony, the company is planning to announce new details of the PS5 in an event later next month. At this event, it is expected that all the games coming with the PS5 might be revealed.
