Here Is The Latest Schedule For MCO Interstate Travel; Starts From 7 May

Following the recent announcement made by Senior Minister (Defense Sector), Ismail Sabri Yaakob, PDRM today have revealed more information regarding interstate travel for those who have been stranded at their hometown since the beginning of Movement Control Order (MCO) last March.

Jointly announced with MCMC who has collaborated with PDRM and local telco companies to develop the Gerak Malaysia app, below is the interstate travel schedule that has been laid down by the authorities:

Thursday, 7 May 2020: Travel from Kuala Lumpur

Friday, 8 May 2020: Travel from Perak, Johor, and Kelantan

Saturday, 9 May 2020: Travel from Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Melaka, and Pahang

Sunday, 10 May 2020: Travel from Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Terengganu

As per our previous report, you can enter the details of your interstate journey into the Gerak Malaysia app on 4 and 5 May. In fact, Android users are able to do that immediately by updating the app in their phone to v2.0 while the update for iOS users are already on the way to App Store according to MCMC’s Chairman, Al-Ishsal Ishak during the media briefing with PDRM earlier today.

Al-Ishsal also stated that the data from Gerak Malaysia will be used by PDRM to prepare its resources to handle the influx of interstate movement throughout 7 to 10 May. Up till earlier today, the app which has been downloaded by 1.2 million users apparently has recorded 503,276 applications for interstate travel permit.

At the same time, the data will also be used as COVID-19 contact tracing measures, just in case that positive COVID-19 cases are detected among interstate travellers after 10 May.

Due to that, PDRM has also asked other family members aged 16 and above that travelling with you to download and fill up the travel details inside the Gerak Malaysia app. This is provided that they also have their own smartphones.

At the same briefing, the Director of Criminal Investigation Department for PDRM, CP Huzir Mohamed has stated that the app will not generate any QR code or approval notification. Hence, in general, as long as you filled in your travel details in the app, you should be able to travel back from your hometown according to the schedule mentioned above.
