Grab Delivery Doodles Turns Scribbles Into Food Orders

When it comes to food delivery, it’s usually a straightforward business affair. Grab is making the process a little more fun with Delivery Doodles. The feature makes it so that it can take orders when you submit a sketch or a scribble of food.

The way Grab describes it, Delivery Doodles is something that’s aimed at children. If there’s something they crave, then they can just make a doodle of it and scan it using the Grab app. The AI behind it, made with the help of Google, will then try to figure out what the doodle represents. Then, the app will suggest a vendor that has the food item, and can deliver it.

The AI behind the Grab Delivery Doodle is built using machine learning. It was trained with over 10000 doodles, contributed to by volunteers from Grab and Google, as well as their family members. This allows the AI to recognise dishes ranging from Nasi Lemak to Murtabak.

Sulin Lau, the regional country marketing head of Grab, says the Delivery Doodles can be used as a way to decide what to eat everyday, as well as teaching children to appreciate our local food heritage. At the same time, it will also be a way to support the local food businesses on the platform. You can give it a try by following the link below
