CMCO: 10KM Travel Restriction Now Lifted But Interstate Travel Still Prohibited

Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Ismail Sabri Yaakob today has stated that the public are now no longer bound to the movement restrictions of 10km radius, with the implementation of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). This confirmation took place during the Q&A session at his daily media briefing today.

Previously, the public can only travel within the 10km radius of their homes unless they are not able to find essential supplies or medical attention within that distance. However, Minister Ismail also once again reminded the public that interstate journey is still prohibited under CMCO, as per what has been announced before by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Some exception will be given to for those who are stranded in their hometown since MCO started, in which they can make their interstate journey from 7 to 10 May according to the schedule provided by PDRM. However, they need to fill out their travel details through the Gerak Malaysia app or doing it manually at the nearest police station before 6 May.

Minister Ismail did mention that those who have an urgent need to travel interstate after 10 May can applied for permission at the nearest police station but that would be up to PDRM to allow it or otherwise. Despite today’s announcement, please remember that there is still no vaccine for COVID-19 and the battle against the pandemic is still on-going.

So, wherever you decide to go, please wear face mask and practice social distancing while adopting high level of personal hygiene.
