Celcom Is Facing Technical Problems In Peninsular Malaysia; Also Affects Tune Talk and Yoodo

Celcom has revealed that customers in Peninsular Malaysia may face disruptions in terms of web browsing and some data services. As usual, the full nature of the issue was not revealed by the telco but it seems rather major given the recovery time is expected to take place only tomorrow morning.

The announcement was made via its Facebook and Twitter page at around 5:45 PM today:

Customers in parts of Peninsular Malaysia may find their browsing and some data services experience affected. Our technical team is working to resolve this issue and services are expected to return to normal by 6:00am tomorrow, 8 May 2020.

Not surprisingly, TuneTalk and Yoodo which utilize Celcom’s infrastructure for their service are also affected as noted on their Twitter:

While the announcement was made today, a search through Twitter showed that Celcom has already faced disruption for its network in Peninsular Malaysia as early yesterday’s afternoon. However, a reply by the telco to its customer on Twitter at 7:19 PM yesterday stated that this issue has been resolved.

@filamarki Do you have network issues at location given? Sorry for the inconvenience. Currently, we are having network issue for all nation and we already highlight to support team. Please try time to time with do flight mode on and off. -Sam

With that, we not sure whether the issue that Celcom faced today is related to what the telco has experienced yesterday. Without in-depth details from the telco, it is hard to know what really happened.

We have since reached out to Celcom for more information, in which we’ll keep you posted once we hear more from the telco.
