Sony Announces New WF-XB700 True Wireless Earbuds With Nine-Hour Battery Life

Sony appears to have launched a new pair of true wireless earbuds (TWS), just a month after the launch of its WF-H800 h.ear in 3 earbuds. They’re called the WF-XB700 and they feature Sony’s signature “Extra Bass” audio technology that the brand says provides a deeper, punchier sound.

On paper, the WF-XB700 have a battery life of up to nine hours on a single charge, while its charging case comes with an additional nine hours. Bringing that total up to 18 hours. Additional details include an IPX4 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as support for Bluetooth 5.0.

Like the more premium WF-1000XM3, these earbuds use a left and right relay to ensure a stable connection to your phone. Unfortunately, these earbuds don’t seem to have support for Qualcomm’s aptX audio codec technology but does carry support for AAC and SBC. Oh, and like the WF-H800, these earbuds don’t have active noise-cancelling (ANC) either.

Currently, the Sony WF-XB700 seem to only be available in the US for US129.99 (~RM570); it’s significantly cheaper than the brand’s other two true wireless earbuds, and clearly gives the likes of Samsung, Jabra, and JBL and run for their money. Sadly, the earbuds aren’t yet available in the Malaysia market, and Sony Malaysia has yet to say if and when the earbuds will arrive in our market.
