Canon Releases EOS Webcam Utility Beta; Allows Canon Cameras To Be Used As Webcams

Canon has released the EOS Webcam Utility Beta, a free software that allows users to use “select EOS Interchangeable Lens Cameras and PowerShot cameras” as webcams for video conferencing. The company stated that the software is only available on the Windows and will be available for other operating systems at a later date.

“In unprecedented times, it’s imperative for Canon to provide our customers with useful, simple and accessible solutions to assist them in whatever imaging needs they have,” said Canon USA executive VP Tatsuro Kano. “Our goal is that the EOS Webcam Utility Beta software can help reduce some of the remote workday stress for employees who are tasked with video conferencing and virtual meetings.”

The company explained that the beta software is an easy-to-use, plug-and play option that can turn a compatible Canon camera into your main webcam via a USB cable. This is good news for users who lack a HDMI-out feature on their cameras. For a list of devices that support the EOS Webcam software, please refer to the image below.

For those interested in using the software, you can find the download link below. Additionally, Canon is also encouraging users to provide feedback or suggestions regarding the EOS Webcam Utility Beta on the Canon Support forum.
