These Are The Drones PDRM Utilises For Surveillance and Public Awareness During MCO

Last week, it was announced that the Malaysian Armed Forces will be using drones to monitor the public’s compliance with the Movement Control Order (MCO). It looks like the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has mobilised its own drones for the effort as well. Specifically, these belong to the Air Wing Unit (PGU).

These drones have been deployed to monitor public movement during the extended Movement Control Order. In addition to the general public, the drones are also being deployed at areas currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). These include two areas in Simpang Renggam of Johor, and Sungai Lui of Hulu Langat, Selangor.

The drones in question are DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise models. As these come with speakers, the drones are also used to warn members of the public who are not obeying the MCO. Bernama reports that more than 10 drones come equipped with heat-sensing tech, which allow them to operate at night. This suggests that they are specifically the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual model, which comes with an integrated thermal sensor.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also shared a clip of a PDRM drone in action on Twitter. In it, you can hear the speaker of the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise being used to broadcast the warning.
