Sarawak Rolls Out Wristband Tracker To Monitor Spread Of Coronavirus

In an effort to staunch the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) within the state, the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) announced that it is rolling out a digital tracking system at all its Points of Entry (POE). Starting from today, all visitor entering the East Malaysian state will be required to fill in a mandatory health declaration.

In addition, approve individuals entering Sarawak will be issued a QR-coded wristband, based on two categories: a Person Under Investigation (PUI) and a 14-day Stay Home Notice (SHN). The PUI category is further divided into two sub-categories, Home Quarantine and Hospital Quarantine. Further, accumulated data of registered individuals will enable the state’s Disaster Management Committee to conduct random checks on the wristband wearer, if deemed necessary.

The state of Sarawak is hoping that with the implementation of this surveillance system, it will be able to reduce the spread of COVID-19 within the state. On that note, we would like to remind all Malaysians to stay safe, as well as to upkeep good hygiene conduct as well as practice social distancing during this Restricted Movement Order (RMO).
