LEGO Super Mario Is An Oddly High-Tech Collaboration For Kids
LEGO and Nintendo have come together to present a rather strange collaboration, which results in LEGO Super Mario. The licensed theme aside, these sure don’t look like your regular, run-of-the-mill sets. There’s certainly a lot of tech that went into them as well, making for a strangely high tech toy collection.
To start, the characters themselves sure don’t look like your average LEGO minifigs. This is especially true for Mario himself, who is larger than the other characters. He also comes with screens for his eyes, mouth, and the chest segment on his clothes. The first two allow him to react and change his expression depending on what’s going on around him, while the latter serves like some sort of notification screen.
You may be wondering, what is it that allows the Mario LEGO to have this kind of interactivity? For one, the Mario figure has a power button and a Bluetooth button at the back. And on the interactive pieces, they all seem to have an additional piece that’s unlike your usual LEGO pieces. This may contain an NFC tag or some other similar wireless tech that communicates via Bluetooth with Mario. Though this is speculation on our part, as LEGO has chosen to not reveal its cards just yet.
For now, The company has only said that the LEGO Super Mario sets will be coming later this year. No exact dates were given, nor were there any pricing information. And as you can see from the video above, this collaboration consists of multiple sets. So you may have to spend quite a lot if you intend to collect all the unique pieces.
