Apple to hold WWDC 2020 as an digital-only event in June due to coronavirus scare
Motorola officially confirmed that it will be holding an online launch event for its Motorola Razr launch on March 16th. Well, Apple too has an upcoming WWDC 2020 event to be held soon, however, the Cupertino-based giant has announced that it will officially hold the WWDC 2020 launch in June but it will be an online-only event.
Apple will be holding an online-only event due to the coronavirus concerns so there won’t be any physical event that would otherwise take place in San Jose.
Apple will showcase a wide range of products from the new iOS 14, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS while the reports of iPhone 9 and the new iPad Pro are buzzing on the internet as well.
Phil Schiller, VP at Apple, made a public statement withdrawing any physical location for the event that would otherwise host a 5000-attendee conference due to the ongoing coronavirus concern (COVID-19). This is also in-line with California’s latest memorandum to avoid having a public gathering of more than 1,000 people or so.
According to the press statement, Apple will hold both keynote and sessions online that will be broadcasted on its website as well as YouTube and other channels as usual. At this moment, Apple hasn’t confirmed any exact date for the event although more information is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
The company is contributing $1 million towards San Jose organizations that will compensate the offset that not having a physical location for launch would cater to. Apple has always made the launch personalized and among a huge crowd so no matter if its WWDC or Special Events.
With that being said, iOS 14, watchOS 7, tvOS 14, macOS 10.16 and others are about to make their official splash. Their beta builds will be sent out during the event as well. We at TrueTech have covered a lot of Apple Events and this won’t be any different so stay tuned as the event could take place “between now and June” or say probably June this year.
