Samsung Launches Galaxy Book Ion 2020 In China; Starts From RM5886

Samsung recently launched a whole range of its products in China which, as you can imagine, includes its new Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip. In addition to that list, the Korean brand also launched a new notebook PC, known officially as the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 2020.

Technically, the notebook is the successor to last year’s Galaxy Book Ion model that made its debut with another Samsung notebook, the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha. Specs-wise, the Galaxy Book Ion 2020 comes with either a 13.3-inch or a 15.6-inch Full HD QLED display. Both sizes come with the latest 10th generation Intel CPU, but do note that the 13.3-inch is the only variant that comes with a choice of either a Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U.

On another note, the 15.6-inch model is the only model that comes with a 1TB NVMe capacity, while the other only has half the storage capacity, while both come with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM. For discrete graphics, the 13.3-inch Galaxy Book Ion 2020 uses Intel’s UHD Graphics, while the bigger brother carries an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU with 2GB GDDR5.

For ports, the Galaxy Book Ion 2020 comes equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, a UFS and microSD card reader, and one HDMI 2.0b port.

Pricing for the Galaxy Book Ion 2020 starts from HK$10880 (~RM5886) for the 13.3-inch variant, while the 15.6-inch variant starts from HK$16280 (~RM8822). As for local availability, there’s still no word if Samsung Malaysia intends to bring in the notebook. However, it doesn’t look likely, especially since the brand pulled its notebook division out of the country years ago.
