POCO X2 Is Now Official: A Mere Rebrand of Redmi K30

After long list of teasers, POCO today has finally revealed its new phone, the POCO X2 which is the brand’s second phone after the 2018 Pocophone F1. Despite being an independent brand after it was spun-off by Xiaomi earlier this year, the new phone still came from the brand’s former owner.

This is due to the fact that the POCO X2 is merely a rebrand of Redmi K30 that was launched in China last year. Hence, you are not only looking at the same physical design but also in terms of specs.

The X2 is equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display that supports HDR 10 standard and has 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, the X2 can be obtained with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage.

On its back is a quad camera setup which features a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor and f/1.89 lens inside the main camera alongside an 8MP ultra wide-angle, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth cameras. The X2 also comes standard with a 20MP selfie camera that is being supported by another 2MP portrait camera.

In addition to a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, the X2 also comes with a 4500mAh battery that support up to 27W fast charger which is included together with the phone. Pricewise, the X2 with 6GB/64GB configuration goes for INR 15,999 (~RM 925) while the 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB models are listed at INR 16,999 (~RM 982) and INR 19,999 (~RM 1,156).

At this moment, there is no indication whether the phone will be making its way into Malaysia, regardless in its POCO F2 or Redmi K30 form. We’ll keep you posted if we received any updates from POCO or Xiaomi regarding the phone’s status for our market.
