Disney Looking At Hulu International Rollout In 2021

When you think of streaming services by Disney, chances are Hulu doesn’t spring to mind immediately. But it looks like the company wants the service to roll out to international markets next year.

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, said that the company put it on hold to get the launch of Disney Plus out of the way. That being said, the company is still working in the background to get Hulu to international markets. Company executives first talked about this back in 2018. This is likely shortly after the indirect acquisition of the service via the 21st Century Fox acquisition.

It’s not exactly surprising that Hulu is taking a back seat to Disney Plus. The latter has garnered over 28 million subscribers in two months. And this is before the high-profile Marvel shows go live, and before the service even leaves American shores. As for the former, Japan looks to be the only other place to have the service.

2020 has only just begun, so it’s still a very long wait before Hulu becomes available anywhere else, let alone here. Hopefully, Disney Plus becomes available first. Which is also more likely, all things taken into consideration.
