Close-Up Of Alleged Intel Core i9-10900 Processor Makes Appearance

Intel’s Comet Lake-S processors have still yet to launch, yet details and images of the CPU line-up have unsurprisingly managed to make their way to the internet. The most recent leak being a close-up shot of the semiconductor maker’s alleged non-K Core i9-10900 processor.

The close-up comes by way of Hong Kong-based tech site, Xfastest. Prior to the picture, details of the processor’s capabilities were leaked by Informatica Cero more than a month ago, so at least we know what to expect in terms of performance.

As per earlier reports, the new 10th generation Comet Lake-S processor is LGA 1200 CPU, meaning that it will require a brand new motherboard with support for the new socket. Oddly enough, the new socket will be compatible LGA1151 coolers, but as pointed out by Videocardz, they will need to be rated for 125W power if you’re planning on using a “K” variant Comet Lake-S processor.

Further, while the images lists down the base clock of the Core i9-10900 as 2.5GHz, the supposed leaks say that its base clock can hover around the 2.8GHz mark, while it is able to achieve a maximum boost clock of 5GHz. All things considered, that’s pretty impressive for a CPU with a 65W TDP and isn’t overclockable.

At the time of writing, there still isn’t any performance on the Core i9-10900, but Xfastest did say that it would be conducting further tests on the CPU. As for a release date, no specifics were given, but it is believed that Intel could be aiming for a March or April launch for its new 10th generation Comet Lake-S processors.
