A Cyberpunk 2077-Themed NVIDIA Graphics Card Could Be In The Works

Cyberpunk 2077 is undoubtedly one of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2020, with many PC gamers expecting the game to be a smorgasbord of gameplay, side quests, and of course, high-resolution visuals. On a somewhat related note, it looks like we could be getting a Cyberpunk 2007-themed graphics card, courtesy of NVIDIA.

The possibility of such a card actually stems from a brief and obviously staged exchange between the official Cyberpunk 2077 account – created by the game’s developer, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) – and the GPU company in question. NVIDIA’s final response to the question was simply a blurred out image of a graphics card, accompanied by the words “Stay tuned…”.

Despite the blurring, there are some elements that we can make out about the mystery GPU. First, it’s got yellow trimmings, which is clearly a hat tip to Cyberpunk 2077’s own use of the colour. Second, the card’s reference cooler shroud suggests that the card could be a GeForce RTX 20 series GPU. Although, it’s still not known if the card itself will be a special souped-up version of NVIDIA’s current Turing GPU architecture or if it will be one of the first cards to run on the brand’s yet-to-be-announced Ampere GPU.

On a somewhat related note, the teaser also confirms what many of us have suspected since CDPR showcased its alpha gameplay demo: Cyberpunk 2077 will support NVIDIA’s real-time ray-tracing feature, albeit with some impact on the game’s performance.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally slated for an April 2020 release. However, the supposedly  underwhelming performance of the game on consoles and the likelihood of clashing with several other major titles in the same month caused CDPR to push back its launch date to September this year.
