Bad Boys For Life Directors to Direct Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie?

Bad Boys For Life hit cinemas last week to pretty good reviews. The film currently has 77% ‘fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes (with an average rating of 6/10). It also has amassed $US 215 million at the worldwide box office thus far. I too enjoyed the heck out of the film. In my review, I wrote:

I was worried that Belgian directing duo Adil and Bilall would try to engineer another Michael Bay baby. But they don’t. Mostly because they’re not embryologists at an IVF lab, but also because they know that for Bad Boys to endure, Bad Boys must evolve. And evolve it does. Bad Boys For Life is a mature and current take on what was an enjoyable but juvenile franchise for frat bros. 

The critical and financial success of Bad Boys For Life has made Adil and Bilall hot commodities among major Hollywood studios. Yes, including Marvel Studios. In an interview with ComicBook.com, the directors revealed that they’ve had meetings with the folks from Marvel Studios.

Well there’s nothing concrete. They just met us. The said they liked the movie and they just told us, ‘Yo, what do you wanna do? Let’s find something to work together on.’ So there’s nothing really planned yet, it was just like a meeting. But yeah, we’ll see if we find something cool.

The Bad Boys For Life directors also mentioned that with the launch of Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, they might not necessarily even be making a feature film to be released on the big screen, but a series for the small screen.

Now with Disney+ is has all evolved so much that there’s so much you can do. You can do a movie or you can do a TV show. And we’ve been so busy with Bad Boys that we’ve not explored everything yet. So what we’re going to do now, me and Bilall, is we’re going to check out all they got and we’d love to find something to work with them on, but it’s not yet clear what that would be.

Do keep in mind that as the duo mentioned, nothing is set in stone just yet. Directors are constantly having conversations with major studios all the time.

Bad Boys For Life is currently playing in Malaysian cinemas.
