Nanica Smitch Is An Obvious Knock-Off Of The Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is obviously a very successful handheld console hybrid. So it’s only natural that a knock-off of the thing would surface sooner or later. And apparently, it already has in Colombia. It also comes with a very unimaginative name, the Nanica Smitch.

For what it’s worth, it looks fairly like the original it knocks off, with the proportions being a little warped. It looks stubbier than the actual Switch, and noticeably thicker as well. Rather than connecting to a TV using HDMI, the Nanica Smitch uses RCA cables. And instead of cartridges, the Smitch has 800 pre-loaded games, most of which are likely NES ROMs.

The analogue sticks of Switch Joy-Cons have also been replaced with the bog-standard rectangular D-pad, while still retaining the original round face buttons of the Switch. The fake Joy-Cons themselves are also detachable from the Smitch. And rather than being rechargeable, they run on four AAA batteries.

The packaging of the Smitch is also quite plain compared to the Nintendo Switch. Even the logo of the Switch has been carefully photoshopped so that it shares the same design language, but is obviously not the Switch upon closer inspection. It even comes with a depiction of Mario in the corner to complete the look.

This is easily one of the most amusing knock-offs we’ve seen in awhile. It costs COP159900 (~RM200), so it’s not exactly cheap either.
