Keanu Reeves Will Fight Keanu Reeves at the Box Office in 2021

You might have to wait a while to watch Keanu Reeves kick Keanu Reeves ass ala Will Smith in Gemini Man, but in 2021, Reeves will battle it out with himself for box office supremacy. Yeah, I know. Not exactly the most intriguing of trade-offs, but what are you going to do?

According to THR, both John Wick 4 and The Matrix 4 will be released on the same date — 21 May 2021. It’s difficult to predict which will do better at the box office. John Wick is pretty huge now, but there is a question of what else can the franchise offer? I mean we already saw him kick ass while riding a horse for crying out loud. I think there could be enormous curiosity surrounding The Matrix 4, despite Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions kinda crapping the bed. Fans, such as myself, are probably desperate for one more great Matrix film. Then again, the box office results of Terminator: Dark Fate tells an entirely different story. But I digress.

Lana Wachowski (formerly Laurence Wachowski) is set to write and direct a fourth film set in the world of The Matrix. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are set to reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity. For the first time ever, the Wachowski siblings aren’t directing a Matrix film together. The plot of the film is mostly kept under wraps for now.

Nothing much is known about the John Wick 4 plot either. Though, one could imagine that it will involve a lot of ass-kickings, gun-slinging and maybe some axe throwing as well.
