Google Pixel 4a May Come With A Punch Hole Camera

The punch-hole front-facing camera is getting more common, but it’s not something you’d usually associate with Google Pixel phones. This may change with the Google Pixel 4a, as renders based on leaks indicate that it will be the first in the Pixel line to do so.

Serial leaker @OnLeaks shared them on Twitter and Indian tech site 91Mobiles. The renders also show quite a lot of details on what we can expect on the phone, at least on the outside. To start, the render of the Google Pixel 4a looks to have only a single rear camera, accompanied by a single LED flash.

But despite this, the square it has for a camera bump seems to be a lot larger than it needs to be. This suggests a lot more other sensors housed within the bump. Slightly below and towards the centre is the fingerprint scanner, and below that is the Google branding.

Elsewhere, we see a flat display that measures between 5.7 and 5.8 inches. The power button and volume rocker are on the right, with the former on top, which is a rare placement. At the top side, there’s the 3.5mm audio jack, which is a relief. The USB-C charging port is at the bottom, which is flanked by what appears to be stereo speakers.

For now, there are no details available regarding the internal specs. That said, the Google Pixel 4a, alongside a possible 4a XL, will likely be announced during Google I/O 2020. The event was held in May this year, which saw the announcement of the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. With that in mind, Google may announce the new phones during the same time in 2020 as well.
