Motorola Razr Now Official; To Enter Markets In 2020 For US$1499

Motorola has announced its Razr foldable phone right on schedule. After a number of leaks, including one just before the launch, the iconic clamshell phone is officially making a comeback with a foldable display.

On the outside, the Motorola Razr has its foldable Flex View pOLED display that measures in at 6.2 inches. It also comes in an odd 2142 x 876 resolution. When folded, a secondary 2.7-inch 600 x 800 Quick View display sits on the outside. This is also a touch display, allowing you to see notifications, and also respond to them without flipping the phone open. The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor. While not specified where exactly, it’s likely the button at the bottom chin.

Motorola says on its product page that the phone will also come with splash proofing and limited water resistance. That said, the company stopped short of putting an actual IP rating. For what it’s worth, Motorola says the Razr can at least take calls in the rain. But it looks like the protruding hinge is here to stay.

The Razr also comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, as earlier rumours suggested. It also has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and runs stock Android 9 Pie out of the box. The battery that powers the phone is rated at 2510mAh.

In terms of camera, the Razr only has a single 16MP main camera, which is quite rare these days. While it doesn’t really look like it, the phone also comes with a 5MP front-facing camera. It’s located next to the earpiece within the display notch.

The Motorola Razr launched with a price tag of US$1499 (~RM6234), and will be available next year. This includes the Asia region, and hopefully Malaysia is in the list. That said, there’s no exact date for when that is, nor is there an exact localised price for it just yet.
