Minister Urges PLUS to Reconsider Touch ‘n Go Reload Lane Closure

The discontinuation of Touch ‘n Go (TnG) reload services at PLUS toll plaza exits was taken into effect as of 5 November. Following the negative feedback from consumers in response to the action, Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali is urging the highway operator to reconsider their decision of ending the service.

The minister expressed that he is hoping PLUS’ management would instead re-evaluate their decision by taking into account the views of highway users, in the name of convenience.

As previously reported, PLUS has decided to close all the TnG reload lanes after the observation that the company has made during the test run in Central region which took place since 1 August. Through the test, PLUS claimed that the lane closure resulted in up to 48.2% reduction in congestion at these toll plazas. 

PLUS has also pointed out that there are already more than 10,000 TnG reload points throughout the country. Hence, the company had advised highway users to make sure that they have enough balance in their TnG cards before they proceed with their journey through PLUS highway.
