Adobe Illustrator For iPad Confirmed; To Be Available In 2020

While Photoshop for the iPad is officially available, Adobe recently confirmed that its Illustrator app is still on track and heading to the iPad. The announcement was made during the Adobe Max conference, where the fruit company also demonstrated a version of the app that is still in its development phase.

Adobe says it has both spoken and worked with “thousands of designers” in order to perfect the workflow of the app while being used on the iPad. For a start, the Pen tool will be one of the many essential tools in the iPad version of Illustrator. Adobe has made some tweaks to the app by adding a touch modifier that works like a keyboard shortcut, considering not everyone has a keyboard attached to their iPad.

Adobe will also be making AI Sensei available in-app as well; designers will be able to scan their sketches and have it mapped out into a vector sketch. As an extra added bonus, Sensei also has the ability to recognise real-world fonts on a sketch, provided that those fonts exists within in the Adobe Fonts library.

The iPad version of Illustrator will also have an exclusive feature that isn’t available on the desktop version of the program. Basically, the feature allows designers to create mirrored shapes that will be reflected on the other side. Adobe says that this feature will eventually makes its way to the desktop, but when exactly is still unknown.

As mentioned in earlier reports, Adobe Illustrator for the iPad will be available in 2020. For those of you who are interested in trying out the app, you may sign up for the private beta on the official Adobe Illustrator page.
